Advocacy & Community Engagement

KAFLA has been an active voice in advocating for the political and social rights and interests of the Korean American community for over 60 years.

We are a leader in the promotion of cultural exchange between the Korean American and a multitude of diverse ethnic communities in Greater Los Angeles.

  • In partnership with the California Department of Social Services and AAPI Equity, we

    • Conduct outreach, intake & referral, training, and advocacy working with representatives at the local, state & federal levels.

    • Plan to install a peace mural that promotes unity against hate.

    • Work with diverse partners to strengthen alliances and promote understanding.

  • KAFLA is a civic leadership organization that represents and protects the interests of our community with projects such as:

    • Voter Registration & Get Out the Vote Campaign

    • Forward Together Committee

    • Koreatown Redistricting Task Force Member

    • Citizenship Assistance

  • We collect and distribute food, blankets, and toiletries to unhoused members in Koreatown.

  • The Korean Language Interpreter Program (KLIP) at the Olympic Community Police Station in Los Angeles aims to bridge the communication gap between the Korean community and the police. By providing interpretation services, KLIP volunteers help to create a more inclusive environment and foster better relationships between the Korean community and law enforcement.
