OUR HISTORY

Our history dates back to the early 1900s with the birth of the Korean independence movement and the first wave of Korean immigration to the United States.

Founded in 1909, KAFLA’s predecessor—the Korean National Association—was not only integral to Korean independence but also served as an early and important advocate for the rights and interests of the Korean American community.

KAFLA was established in 1962 to continue to work on behalf of the burgeoning Korean American community of Los Angeles County.
